See...told you it was AWESOME! This will keep you busy for quite some time, don't ya think?

And what you're going to find is that this is the Easiest and Fastest way to learn these programs!

This course was created by a company called "LEARN2". Now that may not mean much to you...until you realize that this company's training programs have been used by Fortune 500 companies and leading government agencies to train some of their KEY employees for over a decade! Why? Because their system works!

You see, you don't just sit there trying to learn by reading out of a book. (We all know how well THAT usually works - especially trying to learn a computer program. zzzzzzzz) Well, they do something VERY different. Instead, you watch a series of short, but in-depth video presentations, that shows you what to do and how to do it. Each lesson has step-by-step simulations with easy visual and audio instructions.

Learn2 Training Complete: Office 2007 & Windows Vista

The result is this system has proven to increase the rate of retention. In other words, you learn more and you remember what you learn! (How's THAT for a novel concept!)

Oh, and, by the way, this company's training carries the "Microsoft® Approved Courseware" designation. In fact, their training information covers the very same material included in the "MS Certified Specialist" Certification level! So understand...you're running with the very best!

And wait til you see what this course covers. (I think you'll be impressed as we were!)

As you might expect from the title, this program covers the entire suite of Microsoft® Office® programs...ALL of them!

But hang on a second...check this out.

How many times have you tried to learn a program but then the teaching information was for a DIFFERENT version of the program than YOU had? (You know...you've got last year's version, but the program covers the latest version, which (of course) you just don't happen to have!) This program not only has the most current version of MS Office®, but it ALSO has the earlier versions... for each program that makes up MS Office®!

So even if you don't have the latest version of each MS Office® program, you don't need to let that stop you. Learn the version that you have right now. If you decide to upgrade your MS Office® in the future, fine, learn those versions at that time. Or if you really want to increase your job skills, learn all of the programs and become familiar with all of the versions. (Hello, "Super Star" !)

Just so you know, this is T-H-E FULL- BLOWN training course on Microsoft®® Office®®. (There is a "shortened" version of this course that's called, "Learn2 Training Essentials"). This is ain't it. This is, "LEARN2 Training Complete". And there's a reason they called it that.

This program comes with Five!!! (count 'em... FIVE CD-ROMs, each packed with audio and video presentations! And each CD-ROM features in-depth instruction on an Office® program as well as an introduction to Windows® Vista®. There's over 1400 topics covered! The bottom-line: go thru this course, complete the exercises and YOU WILL KNOW Microsoft® Office®.

To give you some idea of the depth covered in these courses, I took some screenshots for you to look at.

Here I opened the section on Microsoft® Access® (the database program). Once inside, you see the Course Menu for Level 1

Learn2-MS_Office1

When you click on one of the modules, you'll see the lessons within that module. (Here you can see the lessons within Module 3.)

Learn2-MS_Office2

Once you click on one of the lessons, you see the presentations within that lesson.

Learn2-MS_Office3

Here's a screenshot of one of the exercises in Access®. As you can see, the training is VERY thorough!

Learn2-MS_Office4

And if you're already familiar with Microsoft® Office® but you'd like to "brush-up" a little or if you'd like to increase your skills in a certain area, no problem. You'll love the way these modules are set up because you can focus on any one specific area you want OR learn any of the programs from the ground up!

Imagine... the pride and feeling of accomplishment you'll feel when you've mastered THE most popular computer programs used today.

So...if you've been putting off learning Microsoft® Office® for whatever reason, now's your chance to succeed and move forward. And to take ALL of the stumbling blocks out of your way. While other sites have retailed this for as much as $49.99, we're going to give you a FANTASTIC price of just $9.97 and US shipping is FREE!

Computers 101

Q: How do I determine if I have a 32 bit or 64 bit operating system?

A:It's good to know what kind of operating system (OS) you have on your computer, that way you'll be able to download the appropriate kinds of drivers and programs that work best with your configuration. So, how about a tip within a tip for this one? Not only are you going to find out which type of operating system you currently have, but I'll even show you a quick way to get there!

For Windows XP users – Hold the Windows Key, and then press the Pause Key, which is located two keys to the right of the Print Screen key. As if by some form of electronic magic, the system properties window springs to life! I know, I went a little loopy right there, but I just discovered this trick myself, so I'm giddy! This window shows all of the basic info about your computer like how much RAM you have and what-not, but it also can tell you what OS you're running. If it doesn't specifically say Windows XP x64 Edition, then you're running a 32 bit operating system.

For Windows Vista users – Same drill here: press and hold the Windows Key and then hit the Pause Key. Up comes the system properties window and you'll notice a specific field that says “System Type”, which has your OS type listed after it. Vista will actually tell you 32 bit or 64 bit.

And there you have it!

MS Office

Read-Only Done the Quick Way

Remember all the hassle it was to make a file Read-only in MS Office Word, Excel and PowerPoint versions prior to 2007?

You had to save and close the file, locate it through Windows, right-click on it and then you could finally select the Read-only checkbox.

Whew! That's a lot of steps and a bit of a pain.

Well, if you're using a 2007 version then today you're in luck.

In the 2007 version of these programs read-only is just a couple of clicks away.

Once you're done editing the file and are ready to make it read-only simply go to the Office Button, Prepare choice.

Among the options that the Prepare section gives there's one that's "Mark as Final".

Choose it.

Instantly the document is read-only and all the editing features of the Ribbon are disabled.

Truly, the document in this condition is "final".

You'll know that a document is marked as final when you see the Mark as Final icon in the Status Bar.

Need more editing? Change your mind?

No problem.

All you have to do is to repeat the process used previously to mark it as final and you'll be back into the editing business!

Now that's truly the easy way to make a file read-only!

Do the smart thing and keep them all together and neat all in one place! (Besides, your mother will be so proud!)

Anyway, in addition to the HUGE amount of capacity, this mini-HD is FAST! (USB 2.0 with data transfer speeds up to 480 Mbps!) So when "Uncle Bob" says he just has to have copies of those pictures, BAM! plug right into that USB port and you're done!!! Oh, and this comes pre-loaded with Mobile Launchpad, which is the start menu for your USB HD Drive! So no need to think about drivers, and all that. Again, this baby is 100% Plug 'N Play so you can Rock 'N Roll!!!

And, of course, we can't leave out the fact that this Mini HD looks gooood! Sleek, slick, compact,,,what else do you need.

Oh, and this comes with its own USB cable, a Quick Start Guide AND a travel wallet. (Can you say, "Accessorize"?)

These are going to go out the door in a hurry! I'd say grab one or two while you can for yourself...maybe even one as a gift if we still have any. Tip of the Day

Internet Explorer 8.0 Features

March 19th saw the release of Microsoft Internet Explorer 8; the first major release of the famous Internet browsing software since 2006. Aside from offering enhanced security, IE 8 is also the default browser for Microsoft's upcoming Windows 7 as well. Let's take a gander at some of the features included this time around, and see what they mean to you!

Suggested Sites: This is a pretty cool feature that recommends sites to you based on where you browse most. Say for instance that you're a big fan of FoodNetwork.com. IE 8 will take that into account and offer up other food-related sites to check out! It's only at the user's request, though, and all the information sent back and forth is on a “by session” basis; meaning that you don't have to worry about “big brother” watching everything you do! I took some time browsing around, and by the time I clicked on the Suggested Sites tab, I had racked up quite a few cool destinations to check out!

InPrivate Browsing: Speaking of privacy, Internet Explorer 8 offers something called “InPrivate” browsing, which doesn't store any cookies, passwords or other personal information during an InPrivate session. In, out and undetected; just like a ninja!

Quicktabs: We're all familiar with tabbed browsing by now (thanks, Steve!), but have you ever wanted to see all of your tabs at once? Quicktabs, which was introduced in IE 7, will allow for just that by showcasing all of your open tabs at once in one area. Each open tabs gets it own thumbnail view, making it easy to choose which window you want to pick next. You might have known about it already, but it's still worth a mention!

Web Slices:This is really neat! Web Slices are designed for people who like to keep track of constantly updated web pages like E-bay or online stocks. If a web slice is available on the page you can click on it and add it to the Internet Explorer 8 tool bar. Whenever an update or change occurs the bar will flash, telling you that something requires your attention. I didn't find too many sites that support web slices yet, but I can definitely see the potential!

More to come on IE 8 in the future!

Today's Feature

Windows SteadyState Part 3

This week is the third and final tutorial on Windows Steadystate. If you missed parts one and two, you can view them here: Part 1, Part 2. Today we are going to cover the last two sections of SteadyState. These two area are called "Feature Restrictions" and "Block programs". Lets dive in!

The first section is the "Feature Restrictions" tab. This tab goes beyond the options of the Windows Restrictions tab and covers specific features of windows programs that can be altered for individual users.

SteadyState5

As you can see, there are many settings in the tab. Just like the previous section, I unfortunately will not be able to cover all of them, but I will talk about some important ones. The first section is all about Internet Explorer. You will find many useful features in the IE section. Some of my favorites include "Prevent Internet Access". This will simply stop IE from connecting to the Internet. Great for securing a system that has no need to be on the Internet. Another is "Empty the Temp Files Folder when IE is Closed". This will simply clean up your temporary files when you close IE. A third is "Prevent Right Click". This stops users from being able to use the features in the right click menu in IE.

You will also notice the sub menu called "Menu Options". These options are pretty self explanatory. They allow you to remove options that appear in IE menus. The best one is "Remove Internet Options". This make it so a user cannot alter the IE settings and possibly put the computer at risk.

The last part of the feature restrictions tab is the "Office Restrictions" area. This area provides a number of office restrictions including preventing the use of VBA applications in office. I would recommend turning this on unless you specifically use macros. These can cause some harm if they come from an untrustworthy source.

Now we will move to the "Block Programs" tab.

steadystate 6

This tab is simple, but powerful. If you don't want this user to be able use a program, simply click the name of the program and click the "block" button. This will make it so the program will simply not work for this user.

So, there you have it. Windows SteadyState is a very useful program that allows you to take full control of your computer. I hope that I have helped explain some of the coolest options that this program has to offer.

Terms of Use

Personal & Educational Use Only This blog consists mainly of FREE newsletters from computer web gurus that I receive. I thought you might like to see them all in one place than try to discover them on your own. A moderate amount of editing may be done to eliminate unrelated repetitious ads or unnecessary text which bloat the post. However I have given the authors full credit and will not remove their site links because you deserve to see where it comes from and they deserve to get credit for what they have written. Your use of this site is simply for educational purposes. For more computer-related help go to: CPEDLEY.COM for free software, advice and tips on low cost products which are very helpful. If you want to contact the editor, please go CPEDLEY.COM and check the Contact page for email address.
