Hey Everyone!

Steve here - and I'm REALLY excited to announce our new and vastly improved WorldStart.com website! We've updated the looks, made it easier to use, and did a complete overhaul of all our major areas!

The wallpaper section has been updated and looks amazing, and the newsletters main page and archives are just incredible!  Oh, and check out the "Font Size" adjuster on all the new pages - you can dynamically increase or decrease the font size for easier reading! And that's only one of the great little "extras" we put into this site! You'll have to explore it for yourself!

I want to thank Gary and Mike for working their tails off on this for the last three months too! They been living and breathing this new upgraded site day after day in an effort to make it really great for all of our readers. I think you'll like what they've done with the place :-)

So, we invite you to take a look and tell us what you think. First, have some fun! Head to the homepage and vote in our brand new poll! This poll will have a new question every week and the results will be displayed here in the newsletter on Fridays. For now, we kept it simple - "What do you think of the new site?" Head to the homepage, you'll see the poll on the right-hand side.

Also, we would love to hear your opinion on the new site, so we've set up a special e-mail address, sitefeedback@worldstart.com for your comments. Drag, Drop and Go

Do you use Gmail for all your e-mail needs? How about Firefox for all your Web browsing needs? Well, if you use both of those services, you're going to absolutely love what I have for you today! It's actually a Firefox extension that works just for Gmail. How cool is that?! It's called "dragdropupload" and I'm telling you, it will make your Gmail experience a whole lot easier. Let's check it out!

So, you know when you want to attach something to an e-mail you're sending out, you have to go through the whole process of clicking the "Attach a file" link and then you have to browse through all your files just to find the single one you're looking for. What a pain! But if you install dragdropupload, you'll no longer have to go through that torture. That's right, with dragdropupload, you can simply drag the files you want right to the attachment box.

For example, let's say you want to send a Word document to one of your friends. To do that, just locate the file on your computer, drag it over and drop it on the "Attach a file" link in Gmail. It will automatically be added to your attachments and you can then type up a quick message and send it off. Just drag over as many files as you want and you're all set. To download dragdropupload for yourself, just go here and click on the Download Now button. Once you do, you'll never want to go back to the old way of e-mail attachments. Trust me!

Forget Buying A New Computer!

Amazing Software Makes Windows Run Up To 300% Faster!

It's The Absolute BEST $8.97 You'll Ever Spend On Your PC!

You're Computer Will Be Smokin' Fast!

Customize, Tweak, Secure, Optimize, And Make 'Er FLY!!

OK, these are STILL going like crazy! Thank YOU to the 1000+ who have ordered this week! If you don't have it yet, you're missing out big time! Just wait till you check out this mind-blowing deal on System Mechanic 7

It's by far, the very best program I've ever seen for getting the most out of Windows! You'll be blown away at what this does to your PC - You'll think you got a new computer! I tell ya, personally, I think this is just outstanding! I've seen a ton of software, but the improvements this makes is really nothing short of amazing! It optimizes Windows to be the way it SHOULD have been when you purchased it! Read on - and get ready to be really - and I mean REALLY - impressed!

First, I'm seriously impressed at just how easy this software makes it to really get your computer crankin'! I mean, I don't think there's anything on your computer this can't tweak and optimize!

To test, I installed it on my personal machine and it did a quick scan, and then it scared the poop outta me! it came up with a serious warning about a few security problems and gave me some really helpful speed improvement suggestions. Now here's the cool part - With just a couple mouse clicks, I'm now enjoying a MUCH faster -and much more secure - computer! And I honestly thought I was as tweaked out as I could be! Not even close - this was incredible - and all automatic!

What can it do for you? Let's talk speed - this takes your slow PC and turns it into a Ferrari - you'll think your computer is new again (maybe better than new)! It'll be just flying through programs and impressing the livin' daylights out of ya! This has a whopping 19 different ways to crank up the speed on your machine! In fact, many systems see an absolutely incredible 300% improvement after just some automatic adjusting by this program! WOW - that's worth $8.97 in anyone's book!

Want to surf the internet at up to 300% faster? Oh, man, this can help! Windows isn't necessarily optimized for the fastest connection out of the box, but this program can grab your settings and squeeze out the speed - you'll surf the internet like crazy! Who wouldn't want to surf up to 300% faster?!!? Heck, it even has a speed tool to measure how faster you connection speed is! Just fantastic!

Want more? - Sure ya do! Another thing this does that I'm in absolute love with is it lets you customize over 100 "secret" Windows settings! Stuff that you always wish Windows would let you adjust but there isn't really any direct way to do it. This makes it point-and-click easy!! You can: Optimize the way Windows' Start Menu behaves, speed up networking performance, log in automatically, edit your computer registration data, change multimedia behavior, improve pagefile security, customize explorer's context menus, edit advanced administration options, and much more!!

Oh, and just wait till you point your mouse at the Automatic System Maintenance section! I just love this! This part of the program will watch in the background and wait till the system is idle. As soon as you're not using the computer, it will work in the background tuning your computer for absolute peak performance! Here's the really cool part - just touch your mouse, and it stops what it's doing and gives the system back to you! Really! If you've ever been slowed down by a stubborn anti-virus that insisted on scanning while you were working, you know just how cool this is! Oh, and it even lets you pick and choose what optimizations to run!

Another automatic feature I think is just brilliant is the "One-Click" option! It's just what it sounds like - just click the button and System Mechanic runs all of its system enhancement programs and cranks your system up to the next level! Just a button push away! It makes it easy for EVERYONE to have a smokin' system!

Of course, no utility suite would be complete without some killer security tools - and this has the best! This program will quickly scan your system and help you find all the holes - then just plug them with a mouse click! I was really surprised when it found not one, not two, but THREE major holes on my personal PC! I clicked the mouse and the world was safe again!

Oh, and that's not all! This also includes both a world-class Anti-Virus (one of the easiest, most comprehensive AVs I've ever used) and a really top-notch Firewall! Either one retails for more than we're selling the entire suite for! WOW!

PLUS - it destroys spyware, adware, malware and more. OK, put it this way - if it was made to attack your system, this is going to seek it out and destroy it like a battalion of ticked off Marines!

OK, all that's great, but what if your PC is really messed up - like it won't boot? This software can handle that too! Just pop in a recovery CD and System Mechanic will examine your system and get your computer running right again! If you've ever had that sick "why isn't my computer booting" feeling, you can appreciate how great this will be next time it happens!

One more thing and I'll try to stop! System Mechanic is just fanatical about grabbing up wasted space on your hard drive! This just blew me away when it found a whopping 1.5 GIG of wasted hard drive space! Geeze - I've had whole hard drives that were smaller than that! This made grabbing that space back a mouse click away! I tell ya - you just can't go wrong here!

OK - can ya tell I'm impressed? There's actually a LOT more this can do, but I don't want to write a book on it (OK, maybe I've already come close)! I'm currently running this software and couldn't be happier with it. My system is definitely faster than before it was installed and I just love the performance increase! If you only buy one software program this year - GRAB THIS!

Your price? Get this - just $8.97 and US shipping is FREE! AND - this is a 3 license pack too! WOW!!! We've never had it this cheap!!! When you think of all this can do, for $8.97, it's the biggest no-brainer in software history! Check it out:

http://store.worldstart.com/product.php?productid=4052

PS - Seriously, after just using this for a short time, I wouldn't be without it. If WorldStart wasn't carrying it, I'd happily pay the $70 for it somewhere else - it really is that good! PLEASE - take a look at this one, I've NEVER seen a better, more complete utility program! Blows everything else right out of the water!!

PS - The price will increase to $18.97 very soon (probably like, tomorrow)!

Computers 101

Q:
Can you please explain what hot swappable means?

A:
Excellent question! I don't think anyone has ever asked this before, so I'm very glad you brought it up. I'm guessing a few of you have heard of the term "hot swappable" before, but I'm willing to bet not many of you know what it means. To be honest, I didn't even really know what it meant until I did a little research for this tip. I mean, I had heard of it before, but I guess I didn't know what all it entailed. But now I do and I'm going to share all the information with you. So, come along with me as we learn all about this brand new term!

In this day and age, it's very important for computers and other electronic devices to be as user friendly as possible and with that, more and more devices are being made with hot swappable capabilities. Basically, a hot swappable device is one that can be added or removed from a computer without having to reboot. USB devices are probably the most well known for being hot swappable, but there are several others as well.

Let's take a USB flash drive as an example. Most flash drives already have all the software they need built right in to them, so when you plug a flash drive into one of your USB ports, your computer is able to automatically recognize it as new hardware. In addition, you're able to start working with the flash drive right away, without having to download any software or drivers. All in all, if a device is able to begin functioning immediately after you plug it into your computer, it's considered to be hot swappable.

Like I said earlier, there are several hot swappable items on the market today. There are flash drives, printers, digital cameras, scanners, Webcams, microphones and many, many more. The hot swappable functionality is beneficial in that it allows you to work much faster without interruptions and with ease. I mean, if you had to restart your computer every time you wanted to use a new device, you'd be wasting a lot of time and you'd probably become very frustrated. I know I would!

You can also use most hot swappable devices on other computers. For instance, if you have more than one computer in your home, you can use your flash drive on both PCs without any trouble. All hot swappable devices work exactly the same in that no matter which computer you use, they will always work for you automatically. And if you really think about it, that saves you some money as well, because you don't have to go out and buy new hardware for every computer you use. Many businesses use hot swappable items as well.

So, if you're looking to buy a new flash drive or printer, etc., check it to make sure it's hot swappable. If you buy all of your hardware that way, you'll save yourself a lot of time, money and frustration. And that just makes it all worthwhile, doesn't it?!

MS Office

The Page Setup Express

When using MS Word, do you like the display to include the rulers (View menu, Rulers choice or in Word 2007, they're found on the View ribbon, Show/Hide section?) I know I do, because it really helps me to see them as I work. The convenience of tab stops and margins constantly displayed in such a small space is something I just can't do without.

Well, as it turns out, the rulers you're used to looking at were hiding a secret! Yep, they're your quick ticket to the Page Setup window. No menus, no key combinations to remember, just a quick double click and you're right there in the Page Setup window!

I'm completely serious! Even in Word 2007, that's all there is to it. A double click on one of the rulers will instantly pop open the Page Setup window. It's as fast as having an actual button designated to take you there.

One more thing: you do need to remember that a single click on the bottom half of the horizontal ruler will insert a tab stop. To avoid tab stops you don't really want to create (due to slow double clicking), either use the top half of the horizontal ruler, the unused portions beyond the horizontal ruler or the vertical ruler for this tip.

Other than that, this double click trick seems to be an express train straight to the Page Setup!

I'm so excited! We have an absolutely amazing deal on a little gadget from Memorex called aTravelSync that's going to change the way you deal with your files forever! This ingenious little gadget allows you to effortlessly transfer data from one USB device to another - and get this - you do it without any computer involved! Really!

Why is this so cool? Why am I so excited? Why are you gonna love this? Let's consider a few scenarios that happen all the time!

First, have you ever ran out of memory on your digital camera's card? Sure, everyone's taken that train to frustrationville! Wouldn't be fantastic if you could simply transfer your pictures to a USB flash drive and empty that card without the hassle of getting a computer out? Am I crazy? Nope -  With this handy gadget, you just plug your camera in on one side, then stick in a flash drive on the other side! Press a button and your images are magically transferred right from your camera to the flash drive - no computer necessary! Then, just clear your card and keep on shooting (you can even have this device clear your card after you're done if you like!)!

Memorex TravelSync Portable Transfer Device

Ooohh, yeah - here's one that happens ALL the time - and we've all been there! Have you ever needed a copy of a file someone else has? You know, maybe you just need a copy of a document, maybe you want a quick copy of a photo, maybe a favorite song - whatever. It may be on a friend's flash drive, camera, MP3 player - you name it, but you want that file!

Well, with this you just plug in the device that has the file on one side (could be a flash drive camera, external HD, memory card, ect) then select the file you want from the listNext, plug in your flash drive (or whatever USB storage you prefer) into the other side and a couple button presses later you have the file! Seriously - No booting up the computer, no opening up the flash drive, no copying the file over to the desktop, no opening up the other flash drive, no copying to the new flash drive, no shutting down! Once you go the direct copy route with this little guy, you'll never go back!!

OK, want another example? What about this - do you have a external hard drive for backups or extra storage? With this, you could actually transfer your photos, files, music, ect directly to your hard drive from your camera (flash drive, memory card, MP3 player) without ever booting up your computer! Talk about a time saver (and a brilliant way to do quick backups)!

Oh, and what if you come home from a trip with a bunch of memory cards in your pocket you want to backup to that same external HD? Don't mess with your computer - just plug a memory card reader into one side of your TravelSync and your HD into the other! Again, just a button press or two and your files are all transferred from your card reader to the external HD! Couldn't be easier! This would be just spectacular if you're on the road and want to quickly backup those once-in-a-lifetime trip photos on a portable HD!!

It's not just for photos either! Got MP3s? Then you'll LOVE this! You want to transfer the music on your MP3 player to another MP3 player? Guess what? This can transfer your files with no computer required! WAIT! Want to put your MP3s on a flash drive, external HD, or memory card? Yup, you guessed it - this is your go to device!

Here's The Bottom Line - If you have USB devices that store data (memory cards, flash drives, digital cameras, MP3 players, external hard drives, ect) this can transfer that data from one device to another with NO computer necessary! This is such an ingenious idea! I don't know how many times I just needed a copy of a file and had to mess around with my computer to do all the copying! This makes it easy!

PLUS, it's incredibly easy to use! Most operations are just a couple button pushes away from being done! Even lets you copy everything or selected files - and the LCD screen makes it simple!

This is really one of those devices that once you have it, you'll wonder how you lived without it!

How much do these go for?  You won't believe your price, but first I gotta tell you "their" prices! Get this - right this second Memorex has these listed on their site for $50 and Amazon is at $48.99! Looking around, I couldn't find ANYONE less than $41 for these things - and pretty much everyone was charging shipping on top of it! And frankly, it's really worth the money they're asking too - it's that good. But....

Your cost is absolutely unbelievable! We're talking just $12.97 and US shipping is FREE! That's not a typo - $12.97 gets you this absolutely amazing, incredibly handy $50 device!! RUN to the site and get this while you can! One of the handiest gadgets we've ever offered!

Tip of the Day

Special Printing in IE 7

As I'm sure you know, the headers and footers that always print along with a Web page can be rather irritating. I know very well which page I'm printing, so it's not useful to me to show the URL at the bottom of every printed page. So, if you'd like to turn the headers and footers off when you print out certain Web pages in Internet Explorer 7, here's how you can do it!

Simply go to the Print Preview window and then click on the button that says "Turn headers and footers on or off," as shown below:

If you want to permanently turn those options off, go to the Page Setup option instead.

Just click on Page Setup and then look for this dialogue window:

You can remove the text in the text boxes in order to get rid of the headers and footers completely or you can change the options to display page numbers at the bottom. The choice is yours!

Here's a full list of the options you can use:

&w - Window Title

&u - Page URL

&d - Date in Short Format

&D - Date in Long Format

&t - Time in Regular Format as Shown on the Clock

&T - Time in 24-hour Format

&p - Current Page Number

&P - Total Number of Pages

&b - Right Align the Next Text

&b[TEXT]&b - If you surround the text in &b on either side, it will center the text.

&& - A Single Ampersand (&).

You can combine those options in any format you want. For instance, you could do this:

I printed these &P pages on &d at &t

That would give you something like this:

I printed these 23 pages on 3/10/2009 at 2:05am.

There you go!

Today's Feature

Strange Colored Prints

Have you ever perfected a photo in your imaging program, only to get bizarre colors when you go to print it out? You know, the photo is all green, pink, etc. It used to work just fine, but now, the printouts are making your eyes water with all the hideous colors!

If your printer has been doing fine and all of the sudden, that situation crops up, it's probably one of two ink related problems:

Problem 1 - Your ink cartridge is empty. The only solution is to visit your nearest office supply store and make a donation to your printer manufacturer for more ink!

Problem 2 - The other cause is a clogged printer head. If you haven't used your printer in awhile and you're reasonably sure you have ink in the cartridge, that's likely the problem. All it takes is one nozzle getting clogged for weird colors to start showing up. The solution can be a bit tedious, but at least it's easy! When the drivers for your printer were installed, there was probably a utility for cleaning the print heads. Finding it is usually the only challenging part.

Most of the time, if you hit the File menu, Print option of the program you're working in, you should get a printer dialogue box.

From that point on, the way you access your printer settings is going to vary quite a bit depending on the manufacturer and software. In the dialogue box, next to the printer name, you should see a button called Properties. Click on that to get to your printer's Properties box.

You're looking for a button to clean the print heads. Most printers seem to have that option under a tab labeled Utilities, Advanced, Options or something similar. Once you find the print head cleaning option, click on it.

Below is how mine looks. I can just about guarantee yours will look different!

From there, just follow the on screen instructions. Keep in mind that you may have to run the utility a few times to get things back to normal. Either way though, you should be able to fix your color issues and be back in business. Happy printing!

Amanda's Coolsite

Vehicle Fixer

I hope you're ready to find your inner mechanic, because today’s Web site is all about vehicle repairs. More specifically, here at Vehicle Fixer, you can watch videos that will help you repair your vehicle!

How does it work, you ask? Well, you can start by typing the type of vehicle you own or the type of repair you want done in the search engine. Then hit the Enter key. It will then display the video results where the example videos were previously. If there aren’t any to be found, it will display blank videos with the text "0 Videos Found."

If you scroll down past the explanation of the site, you can click on links to videos they have highlighted as examples of their service, as well as, a link to their blog, news and interviews.

I think this site is providing an excellent service to people who would like to do at home repairs on their vehicle, but need to see certain steps visually. Check it out today!

Monthly Wallpaper

March Wallpaper

Here's March's wallpaper. It's all free, so enjoy!

Yellowstone Rainbow

This was taken in my favorite park right as a storm blew past. I was driving along and couldn't believe the intensity of the light and this rainbow.

Yellow Flower

This was taken last spring in the Smoky Mountains. The light was soft and just right, so I spent an hour or so shooting flowers just like this one.

Antelope Canyon Light Beam

This is from the famous Antelope Slot Canyon in Arizona. In the summer, these fantastic light beams shine down from above and I loved the look of this one.
