Online sales decline
Online sales fell 3 percent this holiday season. It’s the first decline since comScore started tracking sales in 2001. But there were some winners. Apple, Amazon and Wal-Mart all saw more traffic.

Researchers have found a way to spoof digital certificates protecting Web sites. Microsoft is downplaying the threat. Key information enabling the spoofing has not been published.

China convicts 11 in counterfeiting case
China has convicted 11 people for counterfeiting Microsoft software. They face 1½ to 6½ years in prison. These are China’s stiffest sentences ever in this type of counterfeiting case.
