| Today's Cool Site... Goodbye '08, hello '09This past year wasn't so great for many of us. The economic crisis forced us to slash our budgets. And many Americans lost their homes and jobs. There were plenty of good times, of course. But I'm not sad to see 2008 go. I'm looking forward to brighter times in 2009. Take some time today to reflect on the past year. Remember the fun moments you had with family and friends. Then decide what you want to accomplish in the upcoming year. Once you're done reflecting, it's time to get down to business. Welcome 2009 with a little New Year's revelry! Times Square is at the heart of New Year's celebrations. So, head over to the Times Square Web site. You'll learn all about the New Year's festivities. Then, think about New Year's Day. Why not try something adventurous? Try something daring and...cold! Head out to Coney Island for the Polar Bear swim. Each year, people travel from around the world for an icy dip. You may not make it to the Big Apple to join in the party. That's a bummer. But you can still experience all the fun virtually. At EarthCam, you can watch the festivities at Time Square. Webcams have been set up so you won't miss a minute of the fun. No matter where you are, there is one thing you will encounter: Auld Lang Syne. This New Year's staple was written by Robbie Burns, Scotland's favorite son. You probably don't know the lyrics to the song. But you can learn them at the World Burns Club. You'll find the original lyrics and a standard English translation. Here's to a better, happier year ahead for you and yours! Every day, Team Komando produces some of the best content you'll find anywhere on the Internet. Here is a sampling of what's new on our site today! • Video of the Day: YouTube is a great outlet for some amazing stories. Many have been my Video of the Day. But could these stories be true? • Digital Minute, on your radio: There's a new e-mail scam just in time for the New Year. But you needn't get hurt. I'll help you protect yourself. • Free Download of the Day: Have you ever wanted to record your phone calls? You can do it. Just team Skype and this simple plug-in! • Tip on the site: Pulling still photos from HD video takes work. And you need to know about interlaced video. I can explain it in plain English.
