Teleconferencing is safe
GoToMeeting is designed for hosting online meetings. For example, you can show attendees a presentation you run from your computer. Or, you can work together on a document.
I understand your concerns about security. But GoToMeeting uses 128-bit Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) encryption. So your meeting is secure from snoops. Meeting members can see your desktop, if you permit that. If you have something sensitive on the desktop, it could be viewed. But you can also show a full-screen, blank page that runs the presentation. It is very unlikely that people would get into your computer. The only people involved would be those you chose. Theoretically, someone might interact with your desktop. But you would have to permit that. They couldn't do it surreptitiously. You would see what was happening. You would not necessarily always do the presentation. You might give the presentation to someone else in the group. That gives them more authority, obviously. But these potential problems presuppose that unreliable people would participate in the session. And you have a failsafe, in case someone gets out of control. It is easy to regain control of the presentation. Just move your mouse or press a key. A lot of business owners are deeply concerned about the economy. Things seem to have gone south suddenly. I heard you talking about GoToMeeting on your show. Can outsiders get into an online conference? And what about people who are involved in the conference? Can they see the contents of my hard drive? I'd like to use it for client training and presentations.
This recession looks like it will be severe and long lasting. Businesses will be looking for ways to cut costs. Many will want to reduce their travel costs. 
Obviously, this means that attendees can see your computer. But they don't get to see everything on your hard drive.
