Buying a computer with Blu-ray
In your case, Blu-ray is really irrelevant. Most Blu-ray drives will create regular DVDs and CDs. So I don't see a problem. When you buy, make sure that the Blu-ray drive is a burner. Some are strictly read-only memory drives. They would read DVDs and CDs, but could not burn them. Disk-imaging applications make a picture of the hard drive. These are often stored on CDs or DVDs. You probably wouldn't want to store them on Blu-ray discs. Those discs cost about $35 each! If you have a disk image, are backups needed? The answer is here!

I am a big fan and really enjoy your show. I'm considering the purchase of a laptop with a Blu-ray drive. I would like to create a backup image of the hard drive. Do disk-imaging applications support Blu-ray? 
Just when you think you understand things, something new arrives. That's the case with Blu-ray Disc. New computers are just beginning to include these drives.
